Scholarships
There are many resources available to you to locate scholarships. Below is a list of active links to databases for scholarships. Please review the criteria for each one since they are very specific. Also pay close attention to deadlines.

Reasons to apply for scholarships:

1. A scholarship is "free" money; in other words, you don't have to repay the amount like a loan.

2. With small, local organizations such as churches, temples, mosques, and service clubs there is less competition and a greater chance of being chosen.

Tips:

1.
Don't pay anyone to help you search; you can do it simply and for free with the links provided.

2.
Scholarships are available, but you have to work for them. Approach this process with a plan, great effort and enthusiasm to increase your chances of success

You should also check the following local sources for scholarship money:
  • High school clubs, teams and/or guidance counselors: Ask your club adviser, your coach and/or your counselor to help you look for appropriate scholarships.

  • Companies: Many large employers, and even some smaller ones, have scholarship programs for their employee's children. Also if your parents are members of a union, chances are good either the local or the national organization, or both, has some money to give out.

  • Your church, temple or mosque.

  • Your community's service organizations: You may not need to be a member of the local Elks, Rotary or Kiwanis for you to enter.

  • Ethnic or religious organizations: You probably know that the NAACP has scholarships, but so do groups for those of Italian, Polish, Swiss, Chinese and Armenian backgrounds, to name just a few. The Web scholarship engines can help you look.
