FAQs
Where can I find information regarding housing opportunities at DMAC?
There are apartment/housing listings right there for you to see!
While we lean towards accommodations within close walking/biking distance to the college campus, we also work with realtors to find you beach front properties, if interested. There is something for everyone’s taste.
Along with the above, please visit the area showing frequently used numbers including but not limited to: local utilities, local shopping, recognized stores like: Target, pharmacies, etc.
Who is the main contact for housing for DMAC?
DMAC has a team of on-site housing advisors. You must complete the admissions process and acceptance, followed by completing meeting and finalizing the financial aid advisors. After that, you will be directed to our DMAC Housing Team for your needs.
When are housing assignments made?
Housing assignments are made around a month before the semester starts. While DMAC has established strong relationships with independent properties, inventory cycles are consistently changing, therefore there is no guarantee until lease is signed.
Are apartments or duplexes furnished?
Here you will find a chart indicating properties within our community, with different distances from the college. Each listing has different amenities. The apartments are typically unfurnished which allows you to select and add your own personal touch. On the FAQ listing, you have access to view various cost effective chain stores and thrift stores that you can easily use to furnish your apartment – allowing our DMAC students a variety of stores to shop through very economically and efficiently.
Roommates?
While meeting with your Admissions Coordinator or the Housing Advisor you will complete a
Roommate Profile Sheet . This sheet will become available to other students searching for roommates upon their submission and those potential roommates may contact you to discuss your living compatibility. At DMAC, every effort is made to match you with a suitable and compatible roommate.
Costs?
Rent can vary depending on a few factors; apartment location, amenities, floor level and view etc. On average rent can cost from anywhere around $550 per month plus utilities per person paid on a monthly basis to the apartment complex.
A roommate is not guaranteed but DMAC will do what they can to pair you up with a roommate from the lottery process. Each student should look at budgeting $800 per month plus utilities per month.
Other Expenses
On average utilities can cost anywhere around $150 per person per month. This can vary month to month due to weather conditions and number of rooms and floor level. These other expenses include cable, electric, internet and water (this is included in some apartments).
Transportation
The Palm Tran bus is the local public transportation in the area. Palm Tran buses run throughout the day, every day of the week. The Palm Trans readers digest contains maps and schedules of each route. To get one of these readers digests please come to the housing office.
The cash fares are $1.50 for a single trip.
