LOCATED IN BEAUTIFUL BOCA RATON, FL.
Settled by the Tequesta Indians, the 1890s brought inventive pioneers who developed Boca Raton into an agricultural community specializing in pineapple cultivation and, later, winter vegetable crops. When the Army Air Corps established a war-time radar training school in 1942, (today, the F.A.U. and Boca Raton Airport) thousands of servicemen, families and civilian employees swelled the population. Later developments included the establishment of Boca Raton’s state university, Florida Atlantic, in 1962; IBM computer facilities in 1967, where the first PC was developed in 1981; and restoration of the Addison Mizner-designed Town Hall in the 1980s, currently home to the Boca Raton Historical Society; and the F.E.C. Railway Station in the 1990s.
Despite the city’s nickname as “the Beverly Hills of South Florida” and an unfaltering focus on pristine beaches, lush parks, and numerous golf courses, Boca Raton is also a burgeoning hub for artists who enjoy such premier cultural facilities as:
These and other cultural venues anchor outstanding opportunities for artists of all genres, inspiring a lively student population to attend Digital Media Arts College, a private undergraduate and postgraduate college dedicated to educating computer animation, graphic design, and game art students.
Rounding out daily life for both residents and visitors are nature centers, waterparks, science museums, sports attractions and theatres, not to mention reliably warm weather and balmy ocean breezes that ensure a fun and memorable time is had by all in beautiful Boca Raton, Florida.
